How can we help?

We can support at home, in the early years and school settings a child or young person may access, by providing:

  • Advice, information, and signposting about how best to manage a child’s or young person’s daily needs.

  • Assessment of need and if identified by SEND OT, recommend and provide specialist equipment which can assist in accessing and managing daily functional activities and tasks.

  • Assessment of moving, handling, and risk relating to management of care and functional transfer needs.

  • Assessment of adaptations to support accessing and managing care in the home environment more safely and independently, where equipment and minor adaptations are no longer suitable.

  • Support with housing needs relating to identified SEND.

How to get help?

For a conversation about how we can help, please contact SEND Children’s Occupational Therapy via Families First Children’s Services on 01752 668000; Or email the OT Duty Desk – OTDutyDesk@plymouth.gov.uk

Referrals are welcomed from professionals supporting the child or young person and family, and sent to SEND Access Early Help –AccessEarlyHelp@plymouth.gov.uk

Please include information to indicate the need and risk, what support has been tried or is already in place, and what outcomes are being sought.

This enables us to determine if SEND OT are best placed to provide further assessment and if not, recommend alternative support options with minimal delay.
